Figures 6 and 7.—The hinder portions of two cerebral hemispheres of a full-time human foetus. The mesial surface of
each is depicted, and they both show, in the arrangement of the parieto-occipital and the calcarine fissures, a condition which
approximates to that seen in the apes. The gyrus cunei (c.) is on the surface, and the " stem" of the calcarine fissure (S.)
runs upwards for some distance into the cuneus, and ends in a bifurcated extremity.
