Excursions, Walks, Drives.
Freiburg is so situated in the midst of lovely scenery,
<iii(l is embraced by such pretty rounded hills, wooded and
open, that Wftlks and drives are exceedingly delightful.
For guidance about these, one should refer to the "Guide"
already mentioned on page (i, and to the List of Cab
fares for set drives to places of local interest or beauty.
Excursions are often planned by the Freiburg sections of
the Black Forest Club, and German-Austrian Alpine Club:
they are conducted by members acquainted wit)) the Locality,
and guests are welcome. These excursions extend to the
nearest, part ot the Black Forest, the Vosges and the
Kaisorstuhl.
General Information.
Post. Imperial. Boxes are cleared ahout six times a day.
Letters are forwarded by all mail trains, of which
ahout twelve pass through Freiburg daily, north
and south. There are four deliveries. Tapers from
London are delivered about 2 p. m. There is one
postal delivery on Sunday and High Festival mornings,
and two clearances. S a. m. and !) p. in. I'ostage id'
local letters, half the rate for outside places.
PrivateIbwtPost, has three clearances and three deliveries
daily, and is cheaper for the Town than the government
post.
Railway communication.
l. Freiburg northward to Offenburg (junction for
Triberg &c.), Appenweier (junction for Strassburg),
Oo.s' (for Baden-Baden), Kar/sm/ir (for Stuttgart,
.Munich and Vienna) and on some 1 rains, through
carriages to Cologne, Moid; id' Holland, lierlin,
Hamburg.
