Kurt Offenburg starb am 15. Mai 1946. Der Nachruf vom
17. Mai im Sydney Morning Herald erinnerte noch einmal an
seine sozialistischen Verbindungen, bereits sein Vater sei nämlich
ein bekannter Sozialist gewesen.
Sein Grab fand er unter der Nummer COE/J4/001427 auf dem
Friedhof in Macquarie Park, Sydney. Eine Oase der Erholung in
der schnelllebigen Welt, so beschreibt ihn die Internetanzeige
der Institution im Jahr 2013: „Welcome to Macquarie Park,
Cemetery and Crematorium. Our parklands have served the
needs of Sydneysiders since the early 1900's. The first burial
within our grounds took place in 1922. OPEN EVERY DAY -
6AM - 7PM. Our gardens are a welcome respite from the hur-
ried world ..."28 Eine Oase der Ruhe im hektischen Weltgeschehen
also auch für Kurt Offenburg.
Noch im Todesjahr des Schriftstellers wurde übrigens am
