erlaubt, daß aber keine der drei Hypothesen eine zufriedenstellende Erklärung
bietet, wird die Hypothese einer spontanen PK als möglich erwogen.

SUMMARY

This Condensed report presents the first results of an investigation of a recent
series of puzzling disturbances of the type commonly referred to as polter-
geist-phenomena. Such physical occurrences are of interest to the parapsy-
chologist because of the possibility that they may be instances of recurrent
spontaneous psychokinesis (RSPK). This case includes disturbances where
objects were seen to move without contact, those which occurred when no
one was near the object involved, and those which took place while the
writers were in the house. The evidence is discussed in relation to three hypo-
theses other than PK: fraud, psychological aberrations, and purely physical
causes. With the reservation that in the nature of the case the evidence is not
conclusive, they consider the RSPK-hypothesis worthy of consideration, as
the other three do not satisfactorily explain the phenomena.

RESUME

Cet article presente les premiers resultats d'une enquete sur d'etonnants pheno-
menes de «hantise»,- en tant que manifestations de poltergeist - qui se sont passes
recemment. Ces processus physiques sont interessants pour la parapsycho-
logie, car il pourrait s'agir d'une psychokinesie spontanee «rekurrente»
(RSPK). Ce cas presente les phenomenes de perturbation suivants: i. Des
personnes purent observer directement des objets qui se deplac^ient par
eux-memes; 2. des objets subirent des changements en dehors de la presence
de quelqu'un; 3. des evenements qui eurent lieu lorsque les auteurs de l'ar-
ticle etaient dans la maison. Trois hypotheses sont emises: il peut s'agir de
supercherie, d'un comportement psychopathique ou de mecanismes purement
physiques. En tenant compte du fait, que la force demonstrative de ce cas
n'est pas suffisamment concluante et qu'aucune de ces trois hypotheses fournit
une explication satisfaisante, l'hypothese d'une psychokinesie spontanee
(RSPK) est consideree comme explication possible.
